Notes:
Decided to pay off the mortgage this month. This was an analysis I have been performing for years and finally felt like the financials made sense. Earning lower and lower amounts of interest - think less than 1% - and having a 3% mortgage will save a couple of thousand per year. Plus, it feels great to be debt free right now. Other than that, just riding out the stock volatility for investing opportunities.

Great job with mortgage payoff. I was considering same but just went opposite way. Just refi'd and took 50K out to do some home improvement. Could still payoff but don't have as much a cushion as you and with money cheap thought i'd keep money in market and use some equity...not sure if smart or not but have at least 10 more years of work and mtg is 15....

Thank you. Have to admit it feels great and planning to redirect the payments to investing opportunities. Certainly nothing wrong with your approach and thoughts on cheap money. If not for COVID, we would have done the home improvements and not paid the mortgage off.

Just having the option to pay off your mortgage means you've been doing something right. Way to go!
