i only started tracking my NW since we got married. My wife worked for about 10 years. Full time for about 3 years and part time for about 7 years (once we had kids). Currently she isn't working since we moved for my job. Plan is to have her start working part time again once our youngest is in school full time.
The dual income is really a matter of security (back up plan). Just in case I lose my job (for any unforeseen reason) she will have her foot in the door.

Were you married the entire time? And both working? Wondering how various personal situations may impact things (boyfriend and I will most likely get married in the next year or so, potentially combine finances at that time, and he just quit a job to follow me for my work and in the next year I may end up quitting mine to follow him for his work, etc etc) edited by girlnextdoor on 7/5/2016

Just an update on the rate of increase in our networth (aka the slope of the curve)
As a review it took us -
38 months to attain 100k net worth, then.. 13 mo to 200k 10 mo to 300k 6 mo to 400k 14 mo to 500k 6 mo to 600k 3 mo to 700k 8 mo to 800k 8 mo to 900k 4 mo to 1million
Now averaging we are averaging 100k every 6months
Current Networth about 1.3million
I am still bearish on equities and think the slope will slow down in the coming months and remain slow for years, we will see
