Notes:
Received a sales bonus of $1,000 this month. Also, over the last month I found a house in San Diego that I couldn't live without and made an offer. It was accepted. I put down a $5,000 deposit which I did not remove from my cash as it will go towards equity once the house closes within the next 30 days. Being a first time home owner is exciting! Taxable account dividends I received in April of 2012: 03Apr, KMB, $11.57 03Apr, BP, $10.47 09Apr, AEO, $21.87 11Apr, EXC, $3.72 16Apr, KFT, $7.10 25Apr, CSCO, $8.26 25Apr, GE, $22.95 27Apr, SYY, $14.04 -------------------------- Apr 2012 taxable dividend receipt total: $99.98 I continued with my 401(k) contribution of 5% -- plus a 4% match -- which will allow me to sock away about $5,500 a year to my tax-sheltered account and I'm also contributing $5,000 a year to the Roth IRA. Still on track to reach my goal of obtaining a net worth of $150,000 by the age of 30. I'll be 31 in February of 2014 and I believe I can make this goal. Home ownership may momentarily bring my net worth down, but hopefully over the next few years housing will recover and slowly increase my net worth. The added diversification of housing to my portfolio is comforting, especially since nearly all my wealth was tied up in stocks.
