Notes:
Entry: October 10, 2013. So.... 1.) I've been furloughed due to the Federal Govt. shutdown. 2.) I needed $1,200 worth of service and maintenance done on the 10 y.o. Honda Accord (which I put on my CC for now). 3.) I had to pull out of my E-Fund to cover this month's mortgage payment. 4.) Made other adjustments due to the lack of an incoming paycheck for the month of October: stopped $400 monthly ROTH IRA contribution, 10% gross tithe [will tithe commensurate with income for the month], reduced HELOC payment from $600 to $200 [min. is $120]; cancelled lawn service [needed to do that anyway]. Cable was cancelled 2 months ago [$97]. Did more, but that's all I can think of for now. So, definitely an environment of austerity, but also liberating to know you can live on/with less if you truly have to. Also really grateful for that Dave Ramsey guy though I don't agree with everything that comes out of his mouth. Thanks to him I really had no debt outside of my mortgages and had a modest emergency fund. While My E-Fund is not at 6 months, but it should see me through at least 2 - 3 months and I'm quite certain the geniuses on Capital Hill will figure this thing out before that. Will definitely be re-focused on getting to the 6 - 8 months mark on the E-Fund whereas I was more focused on fully maxing out all tax-advantaged retirement funds over getting my E-Fund to 6 months' worth of expenses [Dave recommends getting to 6 months before maxing out retirement funds; I flipped that order, but still had about 2.5 months' worth in the E-Fund, just it growing more slowly]. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Home value is updated monthly from Zillow.com/Zestimate (Purchase price was $370K in August 2006). Other Mortgage = HELOC/2nd Mortgage
