Total assets minus home value = $1,254,695. Not enough (in my mind) to do nothing, but should be enough to pivot from a work situation that is high-paid but toxic and physically and emotionally draining. I'm trying to find the courage to pull the trigger. My work is amenable to freelancing, but I'm not the world's biggest risk taker. If I were, I'd have changed my situation eons ago. In the meantime, I keep saving and investing. Healthcare costs associated with leaving the FT gig and parental caregiving responsibilities are my biggest mental (and practical) obstacles.
