Career: I'm done setting up the framework of this quarter's task, just need to add some configs to satisfy launch requirements. Since the framework is in place I unblocked my teammate to start on part of the implementation. I'm honestly proud of my own work from the past three months.
Life: Thanksgiving with my family was actually nice. Normally I'm fed up of my family after spending more than 2 weeks with them, but this time we took some trips and saw some new places. I'm able to talk through my feelings with my partner and he gives me ideas on how to handle myself when things don't go as I wish. Things never go as you wish and that's the norm. So might as well be more accepting of things as they are.
I started reading a book "Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents" which is helping me sit with the negative emotions of disappointment and regret, realize they're normal and let go of them, and make the best of the present moment. I'm disappointed that my mom is so insecure even though she's in her 50's. And I regret that I haven't had many meaningful moments with my dad in over a decade. So I'm doing my best to accept those feelings and do what I can to change the situation. I had an actually good time at my parents' place the past three weeks.
Financial: I helped my sister set up her job benefits (creating half a dozen new accounts with various providers). I showed how much taxes take a bite out of income and tried to explain why it's always better to pay for things with pre-tax money, given that you're going to pay for those things anyway. I'm out of the trading window for my job so am clear to sell stock for a down payment if and when one of our offers gets accepted.
Health & wellness: I finished the Ironborn program from Darebee, and I started the Combat HIIT program with the Xpress Tone addon. My mom started the Zero Hero Darebee program during my visit and my partner joined in on the fun and started a darebee program himself. While going through my sister's benefits I pointed out that her company offers her a discounted 24-Hour Fitness membership and I think she'll get it. |
